on september 7, i released Ködade CLI 0.2.1. one of the fixes was keeping the lines you were reading still while an agent kept printing below them.
small thing. until your terminal keeps moving the sentence you’re trying to read.
Ködade CLI gives Claude Code, Codex, and other terminal programs a workspace with tabs and split panes. it is the terminal companion to Ködade desktop, with its own releases and its own interface.
leave the session running
i wanted a project to stay together when i detached from the terminal: the shell where the agent was working, another pane for checking the result, and the directory each belonged to.
the daemon owns those running processes. the terminal client draws the workspace and sends input. detach the client and the session keeps running on that machine; attach again and you return to it. that does not promise survival through a reboot.
so a first session can be plain shell work. no agent account needed to try the workspace.
brew tap kodade/tap
# Homebrew 6 and later require this trust step:
brew trust kodade/tap
brew install kodade-cli
kodade-cli -s first-look
inside it, press ctrl+b, release, then % to split right. use the same prefix followed by c for a tab, or d to detach. running kodade-cli -s first-look again attaches to that session.
four actions. enough to see whether the arrangement suits you.
which agent needs me?
a running process and an agent waiting for an answer can look remarkably similar from the other side of a room.
Ködade CLI tracks agent states, rolls them up in the sidebar, and can notify you when a pane becomes blocked or done. ctrl+b, then N, jumps to the most recent unread agent notification.
and the state has an explanation. kodade-cli agent ls lists recognized agents; kodade-cli agent explain PANE shows why a particular pane received its state. replace PANE with the id from the list.
that is a useful place to start when detection gets something wrong. a “done” indicator is an attention signal; i still read the result and run the project’s checks before treating the work as finished.
the release and the work after it
0.2.1 ships macOS and Linux archives for arm64 and x86_64. it has the workspace, agent detection, copy mode, and scripting commands, plus the charcoal theme and scrollback fixes in the release notes.
when upgrading, existing sessions keep their old daemon. a fresh named session uses the updated one. save anything you need before stopping an old session.
but main has moved since that tag. unified local and saved SSH machines, local extensions, terminal images, and a command center are newer development work being validated for another release. native Windows transport is also still in progress.
the README separates those changes from the download. for a first look, install the release, open two panes, and detach once. the interesting part is coming back to the work where you left it.
