who i am
i’m ContractorKeith — 37 years in construction. electrician, plumber, GC, home builder, estimator, PM, owner, and anything else you can think of. in 2026 i left commercial estimating and committed full time to agentic engineering.
what this is
a couple years ago i started building software with ai. i’ve broken more things than i ever did building buildings, but i kept shipping and the work became the job. this site is where i write about what i’m building, what i’m learning, and whatever else comes to mind.
i work with Claude Code, Codex, Grok, and other agents. the models can swing fast. my job is deciding what gets built, setting the constraints, reading the work, and making sure the finished thing holds up.
what i’m working on
Ködade desktop and Ködade CLI give my agent sessions a home. the desktop app has chat, real terminals, files, and review in one window. the CLI keeps workspaces and agent panes inside a terminal. both have public releases under Apache 2.0.
OpenContractorOS is my growing suite of local business tools. ContractorCRM has a public release. ContractorProject handles job schedules in development, ContractorBooks has a working bookkeeping core, and ContractorEstimate is still planning. the suite article shows what works and what you can download.
and i contribute to other people’s software. Trent Van Holten created SlowBooks Pro; i maintain its signed and notarized Apple Silicon release. my later work includes job-costing and payroll fixes. the maintainer story links to the actual changes.
the rest of the workbench
Pioneer Trail started as a Rust terminal game and now has a browser edition using the same simulation. apparently i also needed to manage a wagon.
the earlier construction work is still here: contractor-bid, the Contractor Takeoff pilot, and plan markup. the pancreati tracker remains a private personal project for recording meals, pain, and medications.
my public engineering skills and ai-writing-skill are reusable pieces of the workflow. the projects page has release status and links, and how i run the ai crew explains how i check the work.
